Last Fall my family had the opportunity to take a cruise up the New England Coast.
It was my first time in that part of the country and I absolutely loved it.
I was so inspired by the gorgeous scenery and the strong influence of the sailing industry in the area.
As we were on the cruise I started to imagine what it would be like if my "my Mermaids"
(from my earlier fabric line) moved up here from the southern seas.
I imagined them taking on the pirates, fishing for lobster and making friends with all of the
fisherman and women.
When I got home I began sketching and the Ahoy! Mermaids line was born.
